Seek Him Continually

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." - Romans 15:13 ESV

Joy and peace are great fruits of the Spirit to have. Everyone is looking for peace and always wanting to be joyful, regardless the situation we may be going through. But how do we attain joy and peace? We need to ask ourselves if we are reading the Bible regularly. If we are to have joy and peace, we need to know what God says in His word in order to have a foundation for what to believe. The Bible is not a vaccine. We do not get one dose of scripture one day and all of a sudden we are set for life. Reading the Bible is like water, it needs to constantly enter our bodies everyday for us to survive.

Psalm 105:4 says "Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His presence continually."

Jeremiah 29:13-14a - "You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD."

"I love You. Reveal Yourself to me. You draw me near; I need You Here with me.
Take my hand and lead me to the place where I'll find peace and still my mind, to worship You.
In quietness, a peaceful place to still my mind when I am with You. To worship You.
I call, You listen. I will seek You. If I seek You with all my heart, I will find you."
         - Desiree Sielaff

I wrote the above song back in 2010 and it is a constant reminder for me that when I seek the Lord and spend time in His word, I will be at peace and have joy in all circumstances because I know that God is for me and not against me. He alone is the source of my joy and I can place my hope and trust in His promises.

"In Your presence there is fullness of joy." - Psalm 16:11

Jesus Offers Living Water

*John 4:10-15*

I have difficulty drinking my daily requirement of 8 glasses of water. The average amount of water I drink a day is maybe 32 ounces. I always try to set up a goal, but it never works out. It's not that I don't love water, because to be quite honest, there is nothing like drinking cold, refreshing water after working out, or on a hot day (thank you Florida weather all year round!). The problem is that I either forget to drink water, or at the moment I don't feel very thirsty and therefore don't think that I need it. However, after a while I often find myself desiring water and no matter how much of it I drink, my thirst is never quenched.

Can you imagine what the Samaritan woman at the well must have felt like when Jesus offered her living water that whoever drank of it would never thirst again? Her response, "Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water" (John 4:15).

However, Jesus isn't offering some magical water that with just one glass, you will be set with your water requirements for the rest of your life. The "living water" that He offers is the Holy Spirit living within believers. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in us when we become a believer in Christ, our deepest spiritual longing to know God personally will be satisfied forever. He will give us the desire to want to know more about Him as we read His word, communicate with Him through prayer, and serve Him.

"Jesus said to her, 'Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'" (John 4:13-14).

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Des and this is a place where I want to share my heart and what I have learned while immersing into God's Word. I may also share a few other types of things here and there, but the main focus of this blog is Christ and how He has/is changing my life as I am growing and learning more about Him. So come along on this journey as we bind our wandering hearts to Him.
